Title: Thank You, Volunteers!

On behalf of all MidSouth Pony Club members, I offer a sincere Thank You to our Parent Volunteers for their support at MegaRally this year.  Their donation of time and energy toward making our Rally competitions a fair, fun, and a positive learning experience for our members is priceless.

Special Recognition is given to the following people/Clubs who gave that ‘extra ounce of effort’ at our MegaRally and Open Horse Trials:
Huntsville - Sec/Org for D1 Rally and SJ course building/ring crew/score running;
Keeneland - Sec/Org for TET Rally, MegaRally Stabling, and Horse Trial
organizing (all huge jobs...done well!);
Long Run - Sec/Org for Dressage Rally;
Miami Valley - course building/ring crew/score runners for D2/D3 Rally; and,
Stones River - BN course building/ring crew/score running and later sent a crew
to help w/N, T, P course building for the Open Horse Trials (!)

As in previous years, Walnut Creek handled all Hospitality duties for Tet, MegaRally, and the Horse Trial and this year also took on Operations Crew assignments( a great help).  Four Rivers did a 1st place job with Awards/Ribbons/Trophies again.  To Grace Hobbie and Shelley Holt …a trophy for their scoring time/effort.  Many Thanks also to Grace for designing all the entry packets for MegaRally and the zillion details that involves!  Thank You to Rebecca Billard, who did a professional job of Stadium and XC announcing at D2/D3 Rally - way cool.

To all the parents and upper level pony clubbers (including C-Advisors) who volunteered their Horse Management skills. THANK YOU for your incredible enthusiasm and patience, despite the heat and long hours down in the barns. Great ‘hands-on’ teaching there!

Kathy Woods from Stillwater was the Volunteer Organizer for Show Jumping Rally.  Cindi Lacy from Wilderness Trace did all the Volunteer recruiting/job assignments for D2/D3 Rally and Tammy Speakman (our MidSouth RIC) took on the task of Volunteer recruiting/stadium job assignments for the Open Horse Trial.  Peggi Bindner (and the Covered Bridge crew) handled the volunteers and equipment set-up/take down of all dressage rings for Dressage, D2/D3 Rally and C-Rally/Open HT again this year.  All four of you gals ( and your volunteer helpers) did a super job. Kudos!

A BIG Thank You also to our Rally Secretaries who spent so much time organizing entries, chasing down paperwork, answering emails, making changes (often at the last minute!) and interfacing with volunteers and/or coordinators:
Sally Lockhart (Tet); Fred Roberts (SJ); Allison Deaton (Dressage); Pat Bellknap (D1); Susan Snow (D2/D3 Rally); Myke Ramsey (C-Rally); and Jan Whitehouse (Open Horse Trials w/320+ competitors! Awesome job, Jan!)    You folks are wonderful!

Last, but certainly not least, a big Thank You to Shelley Ryan, our overall MegaRally Organizer.  Shelley does her job quietly all year long… contracting all the judges, arranging facilities, porta-potties, EMT’s, Vets, XC judges for the Horse Trials, designing/building XC courses, organizing two trailers of MidSouth equipment such as radios, dressage ring components, office supplies, tables/chairs, etc. etc.…..you name it.  Shelley knows who, what, where, when and why.  MidSouth cannot thank you enough, Shelley, for your professionalism, attention to detail, politeness, and generous heart.

It has been said that children learn more by the actions of their parents than from their words. By your acts of volunteerism, you have made a wonderful demonstration of selfless giving to your children.

Sincerely,
Nancy Smith, MidSouth Regional Supervisor
